Claude for Startups program: application status, perks and alternatives (November 2026)
Anthropic's startup program, Claude for Startups, has closed new applications because its current cohort is full. This guide covers what the program offers today, what happened to pending applications, how to get Claude API credits while you wait, and how to be ready when the next cohort opens.

Claude for Startups is Anthropic's program for early-stage founders building on Claude. As of November 1, 2026 it is not accepting new applications: the current cohort is full and no reopening date has been announced. Members get up to $45,000 in partner discounts and credits, biweekly sessions with Anthropic's Applied AI team and event invites. While you wait, the Max plan ($100 a month in API credits), the Ultra plan ($200 a month) or a VC in Anthropic's partner network are the main routes to credits.
What is Claude for Startups?
Claude for Startups (also called the Claude Startup Program or Claude Startups) is Anthropic's support program for early-stage companies building products on Claude. It aims to lower costs in the first months and connect founders with Anthropic's team.
Everything below comes from the official program page, checked on November 1, 2026. The program has changed since early October, so this guide separates what is offered now from what was offered before.
Are applications open?
No. The official page says the current cohort is full and new applications are not being accepted. According to its FAQ, interest was far higher than Anthropic expected.
- When is the next cohort? No date has been announced. Anthropic suggests subscribing to the Claude Startup newsletter on the program page to hear when applications reopen.
- My application was in review. What happened? Applications still in review when the cohort filled were not moved forward, and the applicants were emailed. You will need to apply again when the next round opens.
- I'm already a member. Current members keep access to partner offers, Applied AI sessions and event invites.
What do members get?
- Claude Startup Stack: discounts and credits worth up to $45,000 from companies building with Claude, across sales, design, data, meetings and engineering tools. Each offer is redeemed with a code in the Claude Console. The partner companies, not Anthropic, provide these offers.
- Applied AI sessions: group sessions every other week in a webinar format, each with an AMA with Anthropic's Applied AI team.
- Events: invites to Claude Startup events, hackathons and community meetups.
- VC network credits: if you are backed by a VC in Anthropic's partner network, you may be eligible for up to $100K in additional API credits, claimed through your VC.
Credits only apply to the first-party Claude API through the Claude Console. They cannot be used when you access Claude on AWS, Google Cloud, Azure or other third-party platforms.
What happened to the $1,000 credit and free Team plan?
In early October 2026 the program page offered every accepted company $1,000 in API credits (expiring after six months) and one year of Claude Team for up to five seats. The current page no longer lists either offer. Whether they return in the next cohort, or at what amount, is unknown, so treat credit figures you see elsewhere with caution.

Who could apply?
In the previous cohort, startups founded in the last five years or funded in the last two years were eligible, and outside funding was not required. Applicants needed a Claude Console account, a company email matching their website's domain (not Gmail or Outlook) and a short description of what they were building. Most decisions came within minutes; manual reviews took two to three business days. The requirements for the next cohort have not been published yet.
How to get Claude API credits while the program is closed
- Max and Ultra plans: according to Claude's pricing page, the $100/month Max plan includes $100 a month in API credits, and the $200/month Ultra plan includes $200 a month.
- Team plan: Team includes up to $500 per month in pooled API credits.
- Partner VCs: the up to $100K VC route is still listed while applications are closed.
- Start small: a small prepaid Console balance and a cheaper model are often enough for a first prototype.
Be ready for the next cohort
- Company email: set up an email address on your own domain.
- A live website: make sure your email domain points to a working site.
- A Claude Console account: create it now with your company email.
- A concrete one-line description: "a WhatsApp assistant that books viewings for real estate agencies" says more than "an AI product".
- The newsletter: subscribe on the program page; the next cohort will be announced there.
